Would appreciate reference to a case book play for horn sounding during free throw, I think I've seen the discussion before on this board. Thanks

Why not post what happened in your play?

Sure..........ball at disposal of free throw shooter and he is well into his pre-shot routine. Horn sounds. Shooter continues his motion and ball was probably released within 1-2 secs. of horn sound. Shot is missed. We let play continue.

That's correct. The horn doesn't (shouldn't) stop anything. If the player had stopped because of the horn, get the ball back, see what the problem is, and reset the FT.

There's no violation / redo here.
