Our state association has a form on their website for a coach to give an evaluation. It is asked of them not to do it immediately after the game so they have more of a chance to be objective.
Also - The form only has things that matters to coahces, i.e. Communication, Hustle, Judgement, Game Control We have emphasized asking questions. We have gotten far more positive evaluations than negative. It's pretty interesting. How much weight do these evaluations hold as far as any playoff selections? Not much, but we've had 2 officials that were constantly getting negative repsonses and they are being 'retrained' as we speak. HONEST communications from both sides has worked wonders for us and it continues to improve on a weekly basis. I also think that both sides keep it in it's proper perspective - Coaches coach and Referees call! AAR |

In Indiana the coaches vote/rantings are how we are judged. Yes, you may get an observer to see you once a year, but a bad observation will kill you. A good observation just basically means "it is up to the coaches vote."
