If it's wedged between the rim and backboard, it must've touched the rim, no? If so, how could it be a violation?

Second one. Ball is going out of bounds to side of back board, player jumps and tips it behind the backboard across to a player on other side of court over one of the supports. It does not go over the backboard either way. Violation or not?
It's only a violation in the NBA. And then only if it goes directly behind the backboard.
