Which also means that the refs aren't likely the most experienced / best refs you'll ever see. Everyone has to start somewhere.

tell me...when you are dribbling with your rite hand, switch to your left on a bounce, only one hand at a time on the ball, how is that double dribble?
If the official judges that the ball came to rest in the player's rite (sic) hand, then it would be a double dribble.

when you are in mid jump, shooting the ball, how can you possibly be pushing someone?
At least two possibilities here -- the player "cleared out" a defensive player's hands that were in good position, or the player pushed to get open for the jump shot and the whistle didn't happen until the shot was underway.

Note that I'm not saying that either of these plays happened this way -- only that these could have been correct calls.

One of the refs was my age, and i doubt he has reffed even 20 games.
At lease this ref is trying to help out, not just sitting in the stands criticizing.

You seem to like the game -- refereeing is a great way to stay involved.

those are reasonable scenarios. i dont think i would be good at bein a ref (and I am confident the people here would agree) because i do not know all the rules backwards and forwards, and i am not a watcher i am a player. my last year i had to quit due to surgery and i was a scorer to stay with the team....i hated it. i race motocross now...basketball would be played to keep me in shape for racing. a good positve suggestion though. i helped with a vollyball team earlier in the year, and so many of the rules had changed from positions to scoring, to the ball able to hit the net on a serve now, that i would be lost. oh well.

I dunno about Oregon, but in Connecticut, going to the state basketball tourney means nothing more than the fact that you had a .400 record

and that was reason enough for him to move out of Connecticut.
