Play situation...

Offensive player A picks up his dribble in the backcourt and makes a pass to teammate B who does not see the pass and it hits him in the back and he proceeds up the floor. Player A then retrieves the ball at the upcourt spot of the deflection of off player B.

Is this a travel violation as Player A was the last to be in player control of the ball and then next to be in control of the ball in advance of where he was?

No violation of any kind. Legal play right outa case book play 9.5.3--"When A1's pass was touched by, or touched, another player, he/she may start a new dribble".
