Somewhat of a random question, but how long is the free throw lane. Is the distance measured from the point where an imaginary line through the center of the hoop is perpendicular to the ground out to the line?

Those are rule numbers, tjksail.

Freethrow line to front of backboard is 15'-0".
Front of backboard to center of rim is 15".

Yes, it is horizontal measurement as you suggested.

19 feet per court diagram.

4 feet from endline to backboard and 15 feet from backboard to free throw line.

Well, all of the above answers are wrong!!!

The free throw lane is ....

19 feet long (and 12' wide).

It starts at the endline and stops at the FT line that is 19' away.

It just so happens that the plane of the backboard is 4' from the endline and is 15' from the FT line.

All?

I said it was 19 feet 4' to backboard plus 15' to FT line 4 posts ago.

Someone help me here with all this math please.

So it is 13 ft from the ft line to the front of the rim?

15'(from ft line to backboard)) - 15" (to center of ring)- 9"(18" ring)
'

Is that minus the 2" ft line?

12'10"?

A 2" foot is a small foot.
72 2" feet is gross.
A gross of 2" feet is too gross.
The free throw circle is gross, but not too gross.
