Question

Hello iam a student in the UK currently studying Lesiure and Recreation. The unit iam taking at the moment is "sports officiating" and the sport i have chosen is basketball as i have quite alot of knowledge of the sport.
The task is to describe accurately and explain fully th responsibilites of a sports officials in basketball and how they apply rules regulations, scoring systems. And the analyse the role and responsiblites of a basketball offical and explain how these change as a consequences of changes in the sport and sport in general.

Things such as:

# Presentation
# Behaviour
# Communication skills
# Relationships
# Health and saftey awareness
# Regulations scoring and discipline
# Breaches of discipline
# Applying rules

All help is appreciated
Thanks...Tom

Very nice, Tom.
Perhaps if you had a question, this forum could offer an answer.

Tom,

I know for a fact that UK has an intramural department on campus, and I'm sure that they use student officials. Also, I'm sure that the grad assistants or staff in the department know a thing or two about officiating because often times they have done NFHS or even NCAA ball.

I know this because I've worked with a couple of UK guys at some regional tournaments for flag football. The UK program is pretty good, from what I've heard.

I think he means the original UK. You know, the one across the pond. He said, "in the UK," not "at UK."

Working on alot of coffee today and feeling it.

Tom,
Spell check, grammer check, it's a wonderful thing!!

As for relationships, never have one with someone you are working with! Breaches of discipline are best settled by flogging.
