2-person Basic Procedures and Mechanics
page 37 i. The non-calling official shall notify the coach and then the player on a disqualification and will administer substitutions

3-person Basic Procedures and Mechanics
page 69 i. The trail official shall notify the coach and then the player on a disqualification and will administer the substitutions.

I know the 3-person has now changed due to the updated mechanic to stay table-side when reporting a foul, but the 2-person mechanic says the non-calling informs.

Well when I consider what to do, I am usually thinking of 3 Person mechanics. I do not work a lot of 2 Person games. We were told we could handle the DQs if we wanted to if we called the foul or let our partner do it. But if we have been going table side the entire game, why is this foul any different? I had a coach on Friday act out on me when I fouled out his kid and I just ignored him. The coach got the message and moved on.

Peace

The non-calling official is to notify the coach.:D
The rule book simply says the officials will notify the head coach when a player is disqualified. My state still has the calling official do it, especially given that the calling official stays tableside. So do many others.

All my games are 3 man.

However, some our association JV games are 2 man. In our 2 man games, the calling official notifies the coach. It makes no sense for the calling official to report, then make a switch with the other official, just to notify the coach. Therefore, we follow the same guidelines in 2 man as we do in 3.

There will be a lot of changes written to the Officials Manual next year.

I know that the non-calling ref should inform the coach, but I handled it (rookie mistake). The scorer really informed the coach, when he brought me over to the table to inform me ( again too close to the table). I am still learning. The coach really was pretty quiet and respectful most of the game. I could have whacked him, but I was trying to keep a straight face and not escalate the situation.
