Question

While watching the Marquette-DePaul game tonight, I noticed that one of the Marquette players was wearing a yellow undershirt, under his jersey of dark blue with yellow trim. What is the NCAA rule for undershirts? I know in Fed rules, this is illegal, as the undershirt must be the same color as the jersey.

Also, I hate to double up, but the announcers made reference to a game that Tim Higgins officiated last night where his crew was unable to use video replay in a key spot in the game, because it was "one of those rare games where it wasn't available." Anyone have info on that?

To answer my own question, I found a recap from the Villanova-Boston College game last night...

A BC player blocked a shot by a 'Nova player as the shot clock expired. The BC players stopped playing when the buzzer went off, but the officials did not stop play and 'Nova came down with the rebound.

After nine seconds of complaining by the BC bench, Tim Higgins called time-out and consulted the scorer's table. But the game was not televised, so there was no replay to review, and possession was restored to Villanova with 42 seconds remaining.

Well by rule the jersey has to be the same color of the jersey top. That would be a violation of the rule in the black and white interpretation. Did the jersey come out of from under the shoulders or could you just see it in the front part of the jersey only? If the latter is the case, I do not see it as a major problem. If it was showing on the shoulders, then that could be a problem. Also remember these guys might be told not to make a big deal out of this and handle it through the conference. I just do not know. If they were supposed to have them take it off, I am sure someone will make a point of it. Every game is evaluated, so who knows what might have been said about the jersey.

Well the rules state that there must be video within a certain amount of feet from the court. It might have been possible that that was not the case and under NCAA rules video would not be allowed. Not sure if the game was on TV and that might have made a difference as well. I just do not have any other information that would add to your question.

Peace
