A1 jumps to shoot, B1 jumps and blocks the shot but it was nothing more than a quick "pat on the ball", A1 does not complete her shot, never loses possession and lands with the ball.

traveling or held ball, wha-do-u-got?

If it kept her from attempting his/her shot. Held ball.

Official's judgment:

1) If the "pat" caused A1 to not be able to release the ball -- held ball

2) If the "pat" didn't cause A1 to not release the ball, but A1 *chose* to not release the ball -- travelling.

See 4.43.3

The default, imho, should be a held ball
