Last night, I had a coach set a new record for the most rules not known. I started keeping track about 10 seconds into the game. He made it obvious he did not know these rules by his comments. Here is a partial list as well as I can remember:
3 seconds 5 seconds closely guarded 5 seconds inbound 10 seconds backcourt traveling illegal dribble backcourt violation no timeout when other team has ball player requesting timeout when falling OOB delay of game on inbound delay of game following made basket delayed violation on free throw shooting team violation on free throw no jewelry rule cannot be "traveling" on inbound play can run baseline after made basket technical includes possession technical is two shots technical counts as team foul technical counts toward player DQ limit and of course, he didn't know the number one rule of basketball - I am always right.

What I meant was, what level of play. I wouldn't be too surprised from a relatively new volunteer coach for a grade school or rec league team, but if it was a HS coach, they've got a real problem...... |

I'm wondering how long into the game before this coach got his first T. |

In lieu of answering your second question, let's have a pool. Pick a minute and a quarter. Closest wins an "I'm With Stupid" T-shirt worn by a teammate of Ron Artest (just kidding).

By looking at your list, let me guess this:
5-second closely guarded and 10-second backcourt Don't tell me he thought the 5-second closely guarded applies in the backcourt while you're still doing the 10-second count????? If so, I've had those kinds of idiots. Mine didn't break the bank like yours did! |
