The cheap and dirty feeling will pass. After a while you realize that it's just another type of foul, and when it's earned you award it with no more passion than a reach in or over the back (that should generate some flames )

Cheap and dirty because you called a "T"? Pardon me, but that's absolutely ridiculous- if you're serious. You aren't really serious, are you? A "T" is just another call that comes up every now and then. You just make the call when you have to.

Btw, as already asked, how could you possibly call a "T" on this play anyway, if it happened while the ball was live? If the elbow missed, it's a violation. If the elbow connects, it's a personal foul of some type- not a technical foul. The only time that this could possibly be a "T" was if the player threw the elbow while the ball was dead. Was that the case?

A reach in or over the back is not a foul, CONTACT is.

Same with swinging the elbows. No contact, no foul.

Excessively swinging elbows, violation.

let me elaborate..The "cheap and dirty" comment was a joke. The swinging of elbows was during a deal ball, in reaction to being fouled. Definite Technical

Was there contact?

Does Rule 9.13 apply? How bout 4.24.8 a. and b.?

I guess you could use Rule 4.19.4,5 b or 13. But you said it was "in reaction to being fouled". Had to be there I guess.

It seems pretty obvious to me. A player was fouled and the OP called the foul. In retaliation, the fouled player threw an elbow that made contact. Dead ball, hence T.
