6th grade Tour.

Yesterday I had 4 games for a 6th grade tournement. In the second game something crazy happened. B has the ball and A goes to get it and they both get a grip on it and after fighting for it a sec, I call jump ball. When I do that, B balls up his fist and swings at A. I blow the whistle call a T on B(flagrant) and throw him out. Did I do right or did I blow it? If it would be a highschool game I would have possibly considered a warning, but not this level, not to mention he had an attitude the whole game.

Thumbs down

No warning. Anytime a player throws a punch, it's flagrant, whether he connects or not.

I would have booted him regardless what level it was. Got to remember: noncontact at any time which is extreme or persisten, vulgar, or abusive.

This is an ejection at the college level. Don't even consider a warning on this. Chances are, at the high school level, he'd be done for the season (if his coach had any backbone whatsoever.)

Had it happen in a HS game last year. Luckily he didn't land the punch. Couldn't throw a second one, he was on the bench for the remainder with a flagrant T. Definitely do not warn for this, that just gives the kid a freebie. Then when the other kid swings back later, you gotta give him a freebie too, to be consistent. This just can't end well.
