End of Game question, NEED HELP
Ok, using NCAA rules. In a adult church league game.
Time is running out. Team A is down 2. A1 goes to shoot and is fouled by B1. A1 double cluches and them makes the shot. No question the basket is good under normal situation. The problem in the horn had gone off after the foul but before the release of the shot. We counted the basket, and the awarded a foul shot. The kid missed and Team A lost in OT, so there was no protest. Were we right? |

Nope. No basket due to the horn. The player goes to the line and shoots 2FTs.
Unless the officials decide that the foul was so clearly before the horn that the clock should have stopped before the expiration of time and they choose to go put time back on the game clock. Then counting the basket is right, since there is no lag time in NCAA rules. But you can't count the basket and have time be expired before the release. I once read here (from a thread about a month ago) that there is no lag time in NCAA rules. If that is the case, should there not be some amount of time (that is non-zero) on the clock if the whistle went before the buzzer?
And if that is true, then you do count the basket because there is no other rule to not count it.
