Question

GJV. Jump ball. Team A has the arrow and retains possession. Reset the shot clock? I reset it but I think I was wrong.

Shot clock rules are up to each state. Here in the state of Washington, all held balls result in a shot clock reset. You'll need to find out what the shot clock rules are in your state.

NCAA W - no reset if team A retains possession on a held ball. It is the same in Maryland as we use NCAA W interps for shot clock situations.

CA - no reset

As stated above, shot clock rules are by state. In California a held ball which results in the offensive team retaining possession does NOT reset the shot clock.

In MA, we use the NCAA shot-clock rules (except it's only 30 seconds, instead of the men's 35), so no reset.

I need to modify my answer slightly. If Team A had team control when the held ball occured, and the arrow is pointing toward Team A's basket, then there is no reset of the shot clock.

If there is no team control at the time of the held ball (after a try, for example), then the shot clock is reset regardless of who gets the possession.

NCAA 2-14-6c, 2-14-7e.

Not true. The shot clock is used on the girls' side of the ISL. I know, I had 6 games in this league this past season.
