Can the experienced officials provide information on this term. I hear the varsity officials go over it in pre-game, but I don't remember ever going over it in a meeting.

Yes you should discuss this in pregame - not at just the varsity level either. Typically the trail stays with the passer and the lead goes with the ball.

It refers to a situation where the ball handler passes the ball and then crashes into a defender...as officials, we tend to turn our heads to see where the pass is going and quite often miss the ensuing crash and end up with players on the floor...so it's a good pre-game idea to discuss how those things will be handled: who goes with the pass, who stays with the passer and makes sure there is a call if there is a crash that needs to be called...

So tell us, wise one, what is the best way to handle it? Who goes with the ball, who stays with the crash?

If the pass initiates in your primary, you take the crash. If the pass initiated in your partner's primary, you take the pass.

Well, let's see...two-person: if the pass kicks out to T's side, T takes the pass and L takes the crash...if pass kicks out to L's side, Ltakes the pass and T takes the crash.

Three-person: if pass comes to your primary, you take pass and let partners take crash...
