I guess that I'd better say this gently so that I don't hurt anybody's feelings.

Scyguy, you can't call an elbowing violation if the elbow physically contacts an opponent. The rules don't support that action. It's only a violation if there is no contact made with the elbow. If a call is made for contact during a live ball with the elbow, then it has to be a personal foul of some type. In this case, depending on the calling official's judgement as to the severity of the act, the choices available are player control foul, intentional personal foul or flagrant personal foul.
