Like my mother always said, "don't play ball in the house." And, "don't run down the basketball court backwards." Tough lesson...
Never backpeddle -- besides looking dangerous, it also looks terrible. Run looking over your inside shoulder.

I wouldn't have even acknowledged the coach.

Really? I would have did my best to make a nice looking T signal with my broken wrist.

You actually got off lucky. I know an official that back peddled at a camp and got clipped by a player from the next court.

The first thing to hit the floor was the back of his head, he got a skull fracture and was in intensive care for several days and in the hospital for a couple of weeks. It was over 2 months before he got the okay to get back on the court.

Back peddling is a bad thing to do.

[sarcasm] What exactly are these back peddlers selling? How do they have time to do that while officiating a basketball game? [/sarcasm]

Actually this is taught in many D1 Conferences (football). If I am not mistaken Dave Parry advocates backpedaling on the NCAA tape.

Peace

Of course deep football officials should backpeddle. I don't think anyone's really disputing that.

Well he did say the XFL was the only place that taught that.

Peace

I don't know if it's bad karma or not, but after reading this thread, last night in a JV game, I fell for the first time in like 8 years.

Can we have someone start a thread on winning the lottery, please.

Perhaps the most depressing thread ever. Broken wrists? Bad sarcasm? What's next?
