So, we're in the captains meetings and find out who is the floor captains and we get their #s. Here's my question, do you guys have any tricks to remembering the #'s just in case you need them later in the game?

I guess I could write them in the corner of the score book or write them on my hand but then I risk sweating them off.

I mark the scorebook with a "C" after the captains meeting in case I need the info later on.

When I'm referee, I do exactly what the book says right before the opening tip which is to ask each captain if they are ready to play. Instead of trying to memorize the numbers, I just take a good look at each captain's face. I find it easier to recognize them by face than by number.

Asked a2 5 year guy same question. Great answer.

He said "They'll know who they are." Ask them

Where are the captains - Are you a captain?"

Talking

I carry a branding iron in my bag that brands a "C" on the forehead of the captains. The only time a problem occurs is when a team switches captains in the middle of a season.

Evidently, 25 year guy was never a football referee.
