As the group had told me, I would get back into the new season with little trouble. I had been worried that after only one year, I might have lost a lot of the sharpness I had at the end of last season.
I worked a JV Girls game last night and had a great game. It did help that my partner was very supportive. We had a thorough pregame and halftime conference. The only thing that didn't come back to me quickly was the sharpness of my mechanics, but the calls came by reflex.
Stayed for the varsity game to learn a little from that crew. One of those guys reported the number and color of the shooter for his first foul call of the year. That was one of the things I expected to do! Other than that, they were a well oiled crew. Had a good discussion with them at the half. It was a pleasant surprise that I had anticipated much of what they would discuss. Maybe I will turn out OK after all.
