I have a question I hope one of you knowledgable folk can answer for me . It pertains to having to start your dribble before you lift your pivot foot. What I am wondering is exactly what does it mean to start your dribble. For example, I have the ball and I am jab stepping with my right foot- so my left is the pivot. Now I swing the bll left and then right- as I do this I begin to dribble and my pivot foot leaves the floor as I drive. Now I was called for traveling in a pick up game for this- which has never happended before in a regulation game or otherwise. So I am wondering exactly what does it mean to start your dribble before you leave your pivot foot.
a)- ball stil touching hand but in the process of dribbling.
b)- ball out of hnd before lifting pivot foot
c)- ball bounced and returned to hand before lifting pivot foot.
d)- something else? :P
Any help is appreciated and thank you in adavance.

The dribble begins when you release the ball.
