Question

If a player shoots the ball and the ball hits the rim then bounces up and continues all in the same motion to hit the top of the backboard. Then the ball bounces back into the goal, is the ball declared out of bounds for hitting the top? Or is the ball considered in play because it came back towards the court and then went in, so in turn the basket counts?

Thumbs up

Basket Good!

A ball that bounces on top of the backboard is still in bounds, Unless of course the ball hits that cable that is up there supporting the backboard.

As usual, I agree with Ron - good basket.

Only the back of the backboard and the supports are out of bounds (7-1-2-c).
