I am referencing the 2004-05 NFHS Basketball Case Book.
In 8.7 Situation A (page 59). If (a) A1 has not released the ball for his 2nd shot attempt and you call the A2/B1 DPF, is the ball dead and A1 doesn't get to shoot the 2nd shot? (b) A1 has released the 2nd shot attempt, A2/B1 DPF. A1's shot is good, do you count the basket, then go to the AP arrow?

In a) you would still give A1 the second shot, but with no players lined up on the lane...then go with the possession arrow...in b), you are correct - count the shot, report the double foul, and then go with the arrow...
