Is there more leniency about wearing shoes that are not all black? I have seen more college officials lately with logos or stripes that are not black. I am presently shopping for a new pair and I found a nice pair at a reasonable price. However, the brand name is in grey. Any comments?

As with anything that has to do with fashion, it's all about what's acceptable in your own neck of the woods. Ask your assignor if s/he cares. Follow whatever advice s/he gives you.

It is not acceptable to wear white on shoes for HS games. At the college level, I know of no one that objects to it. But considering that most officials that work college ball, work mostly HS games, I do not see many college officials with white on their shoes. All that is in my area. Chuck is right. You have to verify all that information with the people you work for first.

Peace

Be sure it's waterproof. Check it out before you use it. Don't trust the label. I use Sharpie. It works well on the fabric type of logo stuff, not so well on paint or leather/vinyl.

Sharpie works best.

I have used a Sharpie as well. I used them this past year on a new pair of baseball shoes I bought. I like the New Balance kind and could not find any that were all black in baseball. I did not have that problem for my NB Basketball shoes. It worked well for me.
