I watch my local High School Team play most of their games. I am confused when I see the point guard pass the ball to forward who then takes one dribble then lays it in the basket.
This to me, I thought was an assist. But the official scorer said because he dribbled the ball it is not. Can anyon help me here? |

In my opinion (humble as it is), this would be an assist. Had the forward needed to "shake & bake" or create the scoring chance on his own after receiving the pass, then maybe not.
It would be the same as the point guard leading a 3 on 1 upcourt, throwing a nice bounce pass to A2 at the free throw line, who then takes 1 or 2 dribbles and lays it in. To me, that is an assist.... dk |
