Are you talking about the officials associations or are you talking about state association? There is sometimes a big difference.

Don,
Go to the SOWB Web site under Board Policies and look at the section on Evaluations & Observations. We use paid obsevers for our varsity officials and the varsity officials observe the JV officials. It's not a perfect system, but better than many others. Please feel free to use any and all information available on our site. http://home.ereferee.com/sowb |

mick --
in that case, you should have been in the PBOA meeting tonight when we were told about personal hygiene and how some coach had complained about a ref! I hope it wasn't me!!! |

In our local chapter we use a coaches preference list to assign games. On that list the coach is allowed to list 50 names on there list. He is supposed to rank the 50 in order of prefence. Our computer then caculates the list and ranks each official from 1 to 400 or so. This is not a true evaluation of how good the official is but how much the coaches like this official. But looking at the top 25 in our chapter, it is close. We have over 400 official in our local chapter, it would be hard to observe each one enough during a season to see how much they improve.
