A1 is fouled on the shot. The official decides to call the foul intentional. Can someone explain the differences between what happens next depending on whether the shot was good or missed and also whether or not it was a 2 or 3 point shot? Thanks.

Intentional foul, shot counts --> two throws + ball
Intentional foul, shot misses --> two, or three, throws + ball.

Ball will be thrown in at spot closest to point of foul for Fed.

Mick is right, of course. But personally, I find it easier to remember if I word it just a little differently: An intentional foul is always 2 shots, unless it occurs on a missed 3-pointer. Then it's 3.

I think both of the guys above have nailed it on the head completely.

Just out of curiousity, what would you have called it before having your question answered Ralph?
