Question

Joey Crawford is one of the officials working game 1 of the NBA finals. I thought he went down in the first round with a ruptured achilles. That's like a year minimum to come back for the world's fittest athletes. I remember there was a big discussion here about having to go 2-man for the rest of that playoff game. Is Crawford actually Superman? What gives?

I don't think it was an achilles. I think he had planter facsietious (I butchered the spelling on that one) or something similar.

Yea, you butchered it alright. But you get points for changing it to something funny.

Is a Planter Facetious a ....
...funny flower pot?

... silly Southern plantation owner?

... goofy gardener?

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) - Veteran referee Joey Crawford, who annually works through the NBA Finals, suffered a torn right plantar fascia tendon in Sunday's playoff game between the New Orleans Hornets and Miami Heat.

With 1:45 left in the first quarter, Crawford, 52, pulled up lame and hobbled to the scorer's table. He remained there several minutes until a stretcher was brought out for him, although he opted to walk off the court with assistance.

There was no long-term prognosis for Crawford, who was working his fifth game of the first round.

What a crew last night.

Crawford, Fryer, and Delaney; I don't think Jack Nicholas could argue, OH Wait!
