I still can't believe this happened... but here goes.

Team A on baseline under their basket for a throw in.
Throw in pass deflects off the bottom of the backboard, then passes through the underside of the hoop.

My partner and I conference, he feels violation on A for not passing directly into the court. I agree, violation on A because ball passed thruogh the ring from other side.

Anyone have a clarification for me?

Two different violations going on here. I guess the ball not touching the floor or a player supercedes going through the bottom of the basket.

I have tried, but I just cannot visualize this happening.

If the ball hits the back of the backboard, it's a violation. But never when it hits the sides, top or bottom.

Suppref,
Go with 9.4.Play; A caused ball to enter from below.
Violation A, Throw-in to B.

I agree with Mick! If ball glanced off bottom and went throught he rim, it COULDN'T have hit the BACK of the backboard...just the BOTTOM.

For some reason I thought it had to touch the floor or a player first. But I was wrong.

I suppose you could use 9-2-7, the ball cannot enter the basket before touching a player. I know the guys at the NFHS meant from above the basket, but there is nothing specifying as such.
