Team A is taking the ball out of bounds under their basket, the pass hits the bottom of the backboard and lands inside the paint area, is the ball live, or is it a violation? And could someone please let me know where i can find it in the case or rule book. thanks

Someone else will have to give you the rule # as I don't have my books with me. However, all sides of the backboard are inbounds so this would be a legal play.

The back of the backboard is out of bounds.

You have to use a little geometry. When the ball hits what appears to be the bottom of the backboard, you have to judge what direction the ball rebound. If the ball rebounds backtoward the endline, then it obviously hit the back of the backboard.
