I thought I'd tell a funny anecdote...

A middle school early in the season:

As I'm dressing in the coaches office he informs me that he used to referee I say oh really? and he tells me the dates and years and I forget but it was A LONG time ago. So later on the game I'm running in transition from trail to lead and as Im getting there I whistle a foul against the former referee now coach. Well, Next time down the floor I end up as trail by his bench. He very casually walks up behind me and says, "You've been out of postion all ngiht, how can you make some of those calls?" I simply took my whistle out of my mouth and in a very serious tone said, "They've changed the mechanics since '48". He chuckled and after the game I was BACK in the coaches office grabbing my bag and he thanked me for the laugh because, "it took my mind off of how bad we were getting beat" Saw him in the end of seaoson tourny. He told me he was gunna leave the officiating up to me and my tonight. I laughed and said thanks.
