interupted dribble

Waiting for my game tonight saw a play that made me think.

guard is dribbling between two defenders and loses control of the ball. He goes after the ball along with several other players of both teams.

As the guard goes for the ball he dives for the ball and ends up on the floor.

Since this was an interupted dribble would this be considered a travel.

The officials let it go, but it made me think about the play a little more.

The dribble was interrupted, anyone can recover this ball. But if no other player has touched the ball he may not start a new dribble.
