Exclamation

Girls varsity rec game. About 30 seconds into the second half, we have a spot throwin near the division line.

A1 inbounds into their backcourt and A2 catches the ball and takes off for the wrong basket. Team B also thought the ball was supposed to go that way and they are defending! I realize what's happening and begin my 10 second count. At about the count of 8, A2 throws the ball at the wrong basket and just hits the rim. The ball is retrieved by A3 and I blow the whistle for the 10 second violation.

My partner comes over and asks what the heck just happened. I explain it to him and he says (get this) that I should have started my 10 second count over again when the "shot" was taken!!!!!

After I stopped laughing at him, I realized he was serious. I explained the entire situation to him and he just gave me one of those blank stares I usually get from howler monkeys after I explain a rule.

The really weird part was that neither coach had any comments and just accepted my call. Maybe this was too far beyond their area of comprehension.

Personal note to Juulie - my partner was ABC. Although I never schedule myself with him normally, we had a last minute cancellation and he filled in. It was a real experience.

Wow! [/B][/QUOTE]

It isn't huevos, Snaqwells, its, well... let's see, what would be a nice word? Can't think of one, but something that combines arrogance with simple-mindedness. He's always right, and only fools disagree with him. Anyone with an ounce of sense just doesn't argue. Mark has plenty of sense, and notice he didn't argue -- he overrode. Besides, Mark doesn't count to him, since Mark shouldn't be assigning anyway. This guy did it for a year or two, until coaches, playrs, refs and the board were all begging Mark to come back. That's how bad he is.
