Getting started as a NYC Ref?

I apologize for starting a whole new thread about this, but I couldn't really find an appropriate place to ask, so...

I have been interested in becoming a ref here in NYC for a while now, but don't really know where to start. My mom was a ref while I was growing up in NJ, but it seems to be a completely different system here. Could someone give me a rundown of what I need to do, who I need to contact, that sort of thing? There are at least four IAABO Boards in New York City. I would suggest that you contact:

Richard X. Park
Secretary-Treasurer
New York State Board of Basketball Officials
IAABO Board #19
Post Office Box 162
Aquebogue, New York 11931-0162

He can put you in touch with the Board for the area in which you live. Unfortunately, you will probably have to wait until next Fall to go thru the IAABO officiating class in your area.
