HAD A JUMP BALL. THE ARROW WAS POINTING IN A'S DIRECTION. SO WE GAVE IT TO A. PLAY GOES ON FOR A FEW SECCONDS WHEN THE TIMER BLOWS THE HORN AND PLAY STOPS. SAYS THE ARROW WAS POINT WRONG DIRECTION. SHOULD HAVE BEEN B'S BALL OUT. IS THIS A NON CORRECTABLE ERROR?

I'm of the old school and I use my extra whistle as my possession arrow on court. Facing the table the whistle is in the pocket in which the arrow should be pointing. I check it on ever dead ball.
This was not a correctable error. But if you have definite knowledge you can over rule the table.

I too use a something (an NFHS coin actually) to verify the jump ball. It's become a part of my game, and I check it almost every dead ball. It has saved me many times.
This is non-correctable. |

I just started using a black rubber "O"-ring on my finger. White is right.. I cannot use my wedding ring because it's too tight to move easily, ...even harder cuz I don't wear it all the time. Someone suggested the "O"ring on one of these forums, not my idea. mick |

![]() Personally, I move my handkerchief from front pocket to the other front pocket to match the bench as I am facing them as to who gets next possession. |

I would rather not depend on these memory devices to
help me with the arrow direction. Unless I've gotten roped into one of these run-til-you-drop- multi-game-marathons I keep the arrow in my head. Even then by the time I get fuzzy enough to need the rubber band I can't remember if I changed hands last time out so I just make sure the folks at the table are working the arrow correctly at each AP situation. |

As a side note:
You can correct an AP error. The mistake can be corrected until the throw in is touched inbounds by a player. (Federation Casebook play 6.3.1D)do not allow a team to have sucessive AP throw ins.

I do not believe in rubber bands, not an o-ring. I think something that is not visible is viable though. Either an extra whistle in the pocket, or whatever. It's part of my game now - in two years I've been using it, it's never let me down.
