This is a question posted on a coaching forum this a.m. A coach was wondering if there is a requirement (i.e. rule) that says teams must clear the floor and report to the bench at the 1:00 mark before tip-off and at the conclusion of halftime. He stated that he was told by the official that this was a rule. Is this correct?

Coach's decision

Yes, he is correct. Teams are not required to clear the floor at the 1:00 horn. It's simply a warning horn. You need to be finished with warmups when time expires. Once the clock reaches 0:00, by rule, you then have one minute to be on the floor, ready to play.

Do you mean "ready to be introduced"? ;)

I don't know about U.P. there, but here in PA, we don't introduce the second-half starters. :D

No, we try to get that out of the way while there's still time on the clock.

Besides, they know who they are. :)

I thought both half cases were given. ;)
But even so, the second half introduction was something I always hoped for (<I>but never got</I>) so there was an improved chance the coach would remember my name. :)

Don't care where you live, they don't introduce the guys that come in the last 30 seconds of a blowout as a starter :)
