Due to time, I didn't take any contracts for this year, but I renewed my membership and told a couple of AD's I would help in an emergency. The phone rang at 9:30 last night to help with a couple of 6th grade boys games tonight.
I grabbed my bag out of the closet, quickly sewed on the new patches (hope they stay on), and tried to find where I put the new rule and case books--still haven't found them--and then headed back to this site to get my mind back on the rules. I've reviewed the new rules online, so as long as I don't pull a hamstring my first trip down the court, I should be in good shape! (And I had to tell my wife I'd spend the money on her to get her blessing...) ;-) bard |

Hey, bard, knock 'em dead tonight. But most importantly, have a blast. Sounds like your games will be few and far between this year. So when you get 'em, enjoy the heck out of 'em! Glad to hear from you.

GREAT 4 U!!!
You can sense your elation about this opportunity....
Believe it or not.. I get as excited when I get calls for additional games! I already have over 100 games booked for this year.

And the games went very well. My partner called 2 T's--a player and a coach on the same team. Both were warranted, and I was actually a little disappointed I was on the wrong side of the floor for the call on the coach. He'd been acting up the whole game, and the AD (who was running the clock) told me once, "Go ahead and T him."
When he crossed the line, he yelled at my partner, "Will you call something?!" You know the line that came next: "Okay, I'll call this." To the coach's credit, after he sat down and picked his jaw up off the floor, he offered a decent apology and behaved the rest of the game. It is not, however, a coincidence that one of his players got the other T. We were close to a couple more on that same team. The players emulate the coach. They did lose, despite a pretty impressive effort at the end of the 4th quarter. |
