Here's something I had never seen before. Boys varsity game last night. There's a dead ball and I hear the visiting coach say, "Time out! Hold up a minute." He then proceeded to stroll right out in the middle of the court. I was momentarily puzzled but quickly realized that he was headed over to talk to the two cops by the front door. I couldn't hear what was said but he gestured toward three young guys (I don't think they were students, probably 20 or so) who were walking across the end of the gym, already making their way out. Apparently these guys were sitting right behind the bench and giving the coach advice which included profanity. The cops escorted the guys out without incident, and one of them was heard to say, "Yeah, we know the routine." As the visiting coach returned to his bench, the home coach stepped over and said something I couldn't hear, but I think it was something to the effect of "Sorry about that, I don't know those guys." Visitors coach ended the incident by saying, loud enough for all of us to hear,
"No, they're my people. They're just ignorant!"

Talking

Did you charge him a Time Out and assess a T for walking onto the court without being beckoned?

JV or freshman game, mostly empty gym but those there were very vocal as usual. Suddenly some mom starts yelling "hey ref! the score is wrong! ref! the score is wrong! fix the score! fix the damn score! blah blah blah" Again, nothing unusual here. Suddenly she gets up & starts walking around the court to the table mutterring loudly "If you don't fix the damn score I'm gonna fix it myself...blah blah blah...I'm tired of you people cheating my team....blah blah..." Security (home AD) heads her off, calms her down & herds her back to the stands.

And now...the rest of the story. As part of the deal to calm her down the AD told her he would have the score checked. Turns out she was right, the scoreboard was wrong, we had to take 2 points away from HER team!

Its great when someone yells at you to fix an error, and the resolution ends up negatively affects them.
