Question

During a 1 and 1,defense steps in before the ball touches the rim, the shooter also crosses the line before the ball touches the rim. The shot does not go in. Under the old Ihsa rules it would be a double lane violation resulting in a jump ball. The way the rule reads now is you are to ignor the secound offense. Should the shooter get to shot again?

This hasn't changed, TPS. It's still a double violation. The key here is that it isn't a double lane violation. Ignoring the second violation only applies when both violations are committed by players in marked lane spaces.

So if A2 and B2 are both in lane spaces, B2 steps in early, and then A2 steps in early, you ignore A2's violation. However, if B2 steps in early and A3 breaks the plane of the 3-point arc early, you have a double violation.

Hope that helps.
