JR, 2 or 3 years ago, NCAA went to a rule stating (roughly) that unsportsmanlike T's were 2 shots, while administrative T's were only one shot.

That lasted only one year, b/c it led to confusion about which T's were how many shots.

Kind of like the "held ball goes to the defense" rule that only lasted one season.

Gee, I'd forgotten all about that little gem. The idea on that one was to reward the defense for forcing the held ball. Actually, it was one less thing that the bench could screw up,with no AP to worry about.

Yeah, but what a miserable rule to administer. Every held ball you had to explain to somebody why you were going to the arrow instead of giving it to the defense, or vice versa. I'm glad it's gone. College should go back to the jump, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know of a case where you could have a 1-shot T.

In FIBA (the internatioal game) player technicals are 1 shot plus possession of the ball. That is the only time in any rule set that I am aware you have a 1 shot T.

All NBA T's are only 1 FT.
