Gil Thorp ...

I'm not a big fan of new Gil Thorp comic artist Rachel Merrill.

I was not a big fan even before this particular illegal numbers comic.

And the story lines by Henry Barajas and Rod Whigman are becoming quite bizarre.

Attending a high school where some coaches, usually physical education teachers, coached two, or three, different sports, and as a retired teacher and interscholastic basketball coach, and because Gil Thorp is set in Connecticut, this was always one of my favorite "must read" daily newspaper comic strips.

Now, with the new artist (I can't figure out who is who), and the bizarre story lines, I really no longer look forward to reading this daily strip and may soon stop reading it.

Three sport high school coach gets divorced.

Alcoholic local radio sports announcer gets arrested for a DWI.

There were, and probably still are, much better story lines for a comic strip about high school sports, high school players, and high school coaches.
