A Donneybrook

This happened to us tonight. NFHS rules Varsity girls. Team A down 1 point with 10 sec to go in the game. Player A-1 races up the court and hits a 3 pointer with 3 secs left and team A's bench erupts and spills out onto the floor. Stopped play with 2.3 secs left on the clock to sort out the melee. We assessed a technical foul to Team A and Team B shot two free throws and got the ball at the division line. They subsequently missed their last try and time expired. Question ( and I can't find a rule reference or casebook play ) Do we just assess 1 technical foul or one for every player who left the bench and interfered with the play?

A single TEAM technical foul for having more than five team members participating.

There is a directive from the NFHS stating that when several team members engage in the same action, only a single technical foul is to be assessed to the team.

I agree it's a team tech, but I think it's 10-2-1b -- preventing the ball from being made live.
