For The Good Of The Cause ...

A recent issue of IAABO Sportorials magazine listed this as an NFHS Update and Interpretation.

Rule 9-2-2 Penalty: Rule 9-2-2 states “The ball shall be passed by the thrower directly into the court from out of bounds, so it touches or is touched by another player (inbounds or out of bounds) on the court before going out of bounds untouched.” The penalty currently states, “Following a violation, the ball is awarded to the opponents for a throw-in at the original throw-in spot.” The penalty needs to be updated to account for the 2023-24 rules change that awards frontcourt throw-ins at one of the four designated throw-in spots. After a throw-in violation, if the ball is awarded to the opponents in the backcourt, the ball will be awarded at the original throw-in spot. However, if the ball is awarded to the opponents in the frontcourt, the ball will be awarded at the nearest of the four designated frontcourt throw-in spots. The NFHS is aware of the issue and will be releasing notification of this change.
