Hey everybody, long time, no see!

The 2022-2023 season marked my 30th year of officiating basketball. It was also my last. At the end of last season, I realized that I really wasn't enjoying it anymore. I didn't have the passion for it, the worry about injuries was growing, and I had NO desire to sit through another college clinic. Additionally, as some of you know, I have been transitioning to volleyball officiating and find that it's a culture that I enjoy a lot more than putting up with so many of the coaches I've butted heads with on the basketball side.

I'm staying on as the Rules Interpreter for my high school board for one more season until my term is finished. But then, I'm moving on completely from basketball.

This board was invaluable in my basketball career. I'm not going to try to thank all the great contributors who added to my rule knowledge, who talked through endless difficult situations with me. But I think most of you know who you are.

I've made real friends here, having actually met more than a few of you in person. I still miss mick and Jurassic -- and the battles that Dan and I waged in the Off-Topic Baseball Thread

All that is to say -- thank you to everybody for the help, the support, the friendship, and the good memories. It's been a great ride. Be sure to say hi if you see me on the volleyball court!

Thanks for the announcement. Been a pleasure talking to you over the years. Glad we have talked off this site over the years as well. Been an absolute pleasure learning from you and debating whatever basketball officiating.

Good luck in your basketball retirement. Seems like Volleyball is taking over. Which again good time to recognize the lack of passion that helps us be good at this. Sure we will talk soon.
