I can't believe I beat BillyMac to this one!

This happened this past week out in my neck of the woods at a youth league game.

We all know that by rule this is NOT legal, but the sheer joy expressed by these kids and coach....and then to have this reach 10 of millions of views in just a few days, that's gotta be pretty cool for those kids. Enjoy.

Cool but illegal. You cannot lift or assist a teammate in jumping in NF rules for sure. Great moment, but illegal. Very creative, but illegal. Funny, but unfortunately illegal.

Exactly. I'm sure the CYO assignor probably had some words with this crew as I heard they let the basket stand.

Imagine kicking a rule then waking up and seeing you're on GMA and 10 million people have seen it! lol

Still though, very cool moment for these kids.

The dunk would not count. I would give the kids a talking to to not do that again. In a varsity game, this gets called by the book (technical fouls to the players involved, dunk does not count). CYO players probably don't know better.

I have to wonder if it was planned, with the approval of the other team, for some special needs (or similar) person.

In this case, I'd go with just one on B5 who did the lifting; B13 did not climb.

Agree to the point that this was a case of similar multiple infractions occurring at the same time.

Two technical fouls, and four free throws (plus no basket and opponents get ball) seems to be overkill.

Could be an eight point difference.

But I'm probably going after the dunker in most cases similar to this.

Not a perfect citation below (player technical versus team technical), but it does show a degree purpose and intent.

10.5.4 SITUATION B: Team A coaches and substitutes are all standing during a free throw by A1. The infraction is detected by the officials. How many technical fouls are assessed? RULING: In a situation where similar multiple infractions occur at the same time, it is not the intent of the rules to penalize each individual infraction as a separate technical foul. One technical foul is charged to Team A and it is also charged indirectly to the head coach in this situation, resulting in the loss of coaching-box privileges.
