Scrimmages begin just before Thanksgiving. Prep schools begin games third week of November. CIAC Girls begin on December 2. CIAC Boys begin on December 5. We start later than most states because football championships end in late November / sometimes early December, depending on the weather. This is because many schools insist on playing regular season games (not playoff games) on Thanksgiving. Big-time local rivalries. Lots of tickets sold. Lot's of money to be made.
