When does your HS season tip off?

JVG - Tues 11/5 for me...then it's off and running from there.

Crazy that it's almost upon us already...

It's within about a week every year -- the exact date depends on how they set the "master calendar" for week 1 of the state association year

High Schools in Oregon can not play games until after Thanksgiving...not sure of the exact date, but it is usually the Tuesday or Wednesday following when I have my first game.

The Constitution State ...

Connecticut

Scrimmages begin just before Thanksgiving.

Prep schools begin games third week of November.

CIAC Girls begin on December 2.

CIAC Boys begin on December 5.

We start later than most states because football championships end in late November / sometimes early December, depending on the weather.

This is because many schools insist on playing regular season games (not playoff games) on Thanksgiving.

Big-time local rivalries. Lots of tickets sold. Lot's of money to be made.

In Virginia we have private school games starting the weekend before Thanksgiving and public school games start the week after Thanksgiving.

ON the day after Thanksgiving day...then it's 4 days per week (for the NFHS games) and also on Saturdays for the city Rec leagues games @ n = 5 games per Saturday).
I've got 6 new pair of black athletic sox and bought 2 new whistles with the plastic mouthgard, also bought 2 new shirts, and I'm trying to experiment with getting my shirts professionally altererd for a smoother fit.
My shirts fit ok, but at times the waist area will flail out like a parshute and I have to snug it back in there--any one of you'all ever tried to get your shirt altered and how did it work out? I think it will be a stylish appearance and not flail out like a "flying squirrel":)

Shirt stays and flex belts fix that.

Use, Neat Tucks. That is better than the flex belt (for me and others) and it is not something that you need to tuck your shirt in with the risk of coming out. Trust me on this one, many officials I know use these and it works very well.

Shirt stays keep my shirt from coming up, flex belt keeps my pants from sliding down or moving around my waist.

The Flex blet never worked for me and when I see many guys wearing them, it seems to either pull down their pants (where you can see the belt) or their shirt still looks sloppy. You are a military man so maybe you are putting in on properly. At least for the shirt, Neat Tucks was the best thing for me and others have joined the bandwagon too. Just the best product I have used as an accessory in my officiating career. I cannot even ref without them. It is like not going to the game without my whistle.

Peace
