Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I did not see Tom or Mike Eades, Anthony Jordan, or Joe DeRosa this year.

Multiple Sports Sat Mar 23, 2019 12:33pm

With respect to Billy Mac for answering my own post,
I also noticed Tim Comer and Wally Rutecki are absent Yes Mike Eades is injured and has been out for a month or so....

Looks like Lewis Garrison, Owen Shortt, and Chance Moore are the new guys who worked in Dayton. Also it seems like the new alternate procedure for the first round would be a way to get some newer guys the experience of being in the tournament environment.

Joe DeRosa has not worked the tournament since he lost the NCAA assigning job to JD Collins. Not sure if there is some kind of beef there or Joe being butthurt. In the four years before JD took over Joe worked 3 out of 4 Final Fours.

*Chance was a clinician at an officiating camp I had attended. Good guy, very helpful in sharing with us some methods to deal with overly verbal/borderline coaches comments when we happen to be positioned near the sideline area. Also Chance gave us some very helpful pointers on how be in good position and mindset/attention to recognize LGP on drives into the congested lane when working as the L--in terms of being able to separate and properly adjudicate between: 'blocks', 'charges', and the 'pass-then-crash'' type of situations; his advice has certainly helped me a lot.

You're probably gonna have to add Tony Padilla to your list and subtract Lee Cassell; he was the alternate on Thursday in Louisville.

Are the alternates for these rounds all guys that arenít getting a floor assignment?

And I missed one for sure. Earl Walton in Anaheim with Ayers and Higgins.

Unless you know something I donít I would subtract Chiazza.

I've seen a lot of talk on a local college sports message board that tonight was John Higgins' last game as a college official. Anybody have any real insight on this or is this just some rumor from people that think they are in the know?

I know Jamie Luckie is calling it quits.

My predictions for tomorrow:

(2) Michigan State vs. (1) Duke -- Mike Roberts, Terry Wymer, Joe Lindsay

(5) Auburn vs. (2) Kentucky -- Doug Sirmons, Keith Kimble, John Gaffney

SC Official Sun Mar 31, 2019 07:41am

Lindsayís already worked a Sweet 16 game.

Dammit youíre right. I originally had Terry Oglesby in there until his phantom three-point foul, but who knows maybe he will work anyway.

michref Sun Mar 31, 2019 09:45am

I will say Doug Sirmons, Keith Kimble, Ted Valentine, Terry Wymer, Terry Oglesby, and Ray Natilli work today

I agree with most of that. Ray Natili already worked SS as well. And I think Teddy's expiration date for working deep in the tourney has been reached. But I could easily be wrong.

Mnolanref1 Sun Mar 31, 2019 10:32am

Could you please share what local message boards are saying that Higgins worked his last college game last night please. Also, is there any link reflecting where Jamie Luckie is calling it quits.

Thnx

Can you list what conferences the Elite 8 officials work for? Or how you can find it?

All of them work multiple conferences. They have a primary conference, typically, but all work in more than one....sometimes a handful.

Sweet 16 and Elite 8 officials are all eligible to be chosen for the Final 4.

Rich Sun Mar 31, 2019 01:19pm

Wymer, Roberts, Dorsey in the first game today.

Shockernet.net. In the NCAA Tournament thread, page 30 I believe. For Higgins

SC Official Sun Mar 31, 2019 06:25pm

I predict Gaffney gets his first F4 this year.

michblue Sun Mar 31, 2019 07:04pm

I am going to say Wymer, Gaffney, Kimble, Ayers, McCall, Driscoll, Stephens, Sirmons, Roberts, and Harris. Even though with the way a lot of assignments went this past weekend, it would not shock me if multiple first timers got the nod for the Final Four

fiasco Sun Mar 31, 2019 07:19pm

Anyone catch who did the MSU-Duke game? Can't find a box score anywhere.

Your TT-MSU crew won't happen.

If you look at the racial makeup of EVERY regional crew, there is one African American or Latino official with two Caucasian officials. Same as last year.

Final Four officials:

Jeff Anderson
Bo Boroski
James Breeding
Ron Groover
Keith Kimble
Chris Rastatter
Doug Shows
Doug Sirmons
Michael Stephens
Terry Wymer

I believe Boroski and Breeding are the newbies so one of them will likely be the alternate.

No one from Gonzaga-Texas Tech advanced.

Mnolanref1 Mon Apr 01, 2019 04:50pm

Interesting to see no Higgins or Pollard. Some thought that he would maybe go this year.

Higgins was on Gonzaga-Texas Tech, and as I mentioned (and to no oneís surprise), no one on that crew advanced.
