Play 1: Correct calls on both ends

Play 2: Blocking foul

Play 3: I have a no call

Play 4: Not a cylinder play. It is however a defensive foul.

Play 5: Correct call on video, I would probably pass in real time.

Play number three is a foul they've been telling us a call for the last 2 years.

Agree with Arem on all 5. For #3, the handoff screen has been a focus area lately and I like that it has been, but this whistle was an anticipation whistle and I’m sure the official would like it back.

You're right, and as an assignor I would defend this call. Personally I'd like it to be a little more, but as we know things are rarely ideal.

They have been beating down our throat to call this. This was classic and easier than the SEC play that I had shown in another thread.

Peace

1. Good PC. Good blocked shot.

2. Good block call.

3. Good illegal screen call. These plays are designed to disguise a screen but they are still screens and need to ball called as such.

4. It was a foul, but only because he was holding his shoulder.

5. Good call, still in the cylinder.

It is a foul when you invade someone's cylinder and you then make contact with them. That is also what the official called with his signal. I think it was a good call at any level, but the NCAA says these should be fouls because of the defender was invading his cylinder.

Peace

I don't think this is a cylinder play JRut.

JD's NCAA videos seemed to suggest that cylinder plays are for 1) elbows that occur when defender is in cylinder and offensive player makes a basketball play (doesn't apply to this play because of no elbow), and 2) plays where the defender is straddling the offensive players pivot legs and restricting movement (also doesn't apply to this play).

I think it's a foul, but a hit or a hold.
