Billy Packer was hard to listen to as well. Every once in a while he'd say "that was a fine piece of officiating".

The interesting thing is when he first started he was actually one of the few color commentators that was somewhat rule knowledgeable but he has gone the route most media people have gone, negative cause reactions and reactions cause interest.

I still think Bill Raftery is one of the best on color. He will question particular calls, but not in an excessive way and not regularly, and often will praise a good call. I can appreciate an announcer pointing out that a particular call may have been wrong, but Bilas (and others) are usually way over the top about it.
